Head of TV
Katherine Pope joined Studio 8 as Head of TV in July 2015, helping launch the company’s independent television division. Studio 8 is a newly formed and fully financed film and television company led by former Warner Bros. Motion Picture President Jeff Robinov.
Previously, Katherine served as President of Television at Chernin Entertainment from its founding in 2009, overseeing all creative development and production for the Twentieth Century Fox-based production company. In this role, she developed and Executive Produced numerous projects, including the FOX hit comedy New Girl, entering its fifth season and recently sold into syndication. She also developed and produced Touch, Terra Nova, Breakout Kings and Ben and Kate, in addition to other scripted projects at NBC, CBS, ABC, Showtime, Syfy, A&E and F/X.
Prior to joining Chernin, Pope spent ten years at NBC/NBC Universal Television Studios rising to EVP of the Network and President of the Studio. Among the projects produced during her tenure were some of television’s highest-rated scripted series, including House, Heroes, and the Emmy Award-winning comedies The Office, 30 Rock and Will and Grace. Other critically acclaimed series she developed and oversaw across the company included Friday Night Lights, Battlestar Galactica and Psych.
Pope started her career working in network news at CBS and ABC News, producing documentaries and specials for shows like Biography and Primetime Live. She also served as a writer and producer on Behind The Music.
An active board member of Chrysalis and supporter of 10x10 and Girls Inc., Pope is a native of Glencoe, IL and earned her bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, documentary filmmaker and writer Richard E. Robbins, and their two children.
