In Conversation With: David Alpert

Scripted is excited to share its final keynote interview announcement, featuring prolific TV producer David Alpert, whose television credits include The Walking Dead, and its companion series, Fear The Walking Dead, Outcast, Five Year, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. In a one-on-one conversation on November 8, Alpert will discuss the international success of his hit series, Skybound's recent overall deal signed with Amazon Studios, as well as upcoming projects his team is working on, spanning linear, digital and virtual reality platforms.

Alpert is CEO of Skybound Entertainment, founded alongside longtime collaborator Robert Kirkman. It was their vision to build Skybound, a multi-platform content company, to produce creatively driven content in all genres and formats with passionate creators at the helm. As CEO, Alpert oversees operations, creative development and production and strategic business initiatives for the company.

His film credits include producing the upcoming adaptation of the long-running Robert Kirkman comic, Invincible, which is set to be written, directed and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for Universal Pictures.

Other producing credits include AIR, starring Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou, the Jessie Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart film American Ultra, and the George Lopez film Spare Parts.

Moving across platforms, Alpert executive produced Samsung Milk VR's Gone, the first ever narrative virtual reality series. He also produces the VR series Delusion: Lies Within, the first project out of Skybound's partnership with immersive theatrical company Delusion.

Drama Spotlight: American Gods

In a case study on the international hit American Gods, we'll be joined by executive producer FremantleMedia's Stefanie Berk, co-showrunner Michael Green and series star Ricky Whittle (Shadow Moon), where we'll dive into topics ranging from the years of creative development of the series, collaborating with the author of the best-selling novel, to finding the right talent to bring the IP to life. Here, we'll explore what has made the show resonate with audiences worldwide, and insights into how it will be brought back for future seasons.

Darren Paul Fisher is an award-winning film writer, director and producer. His most recent feature, the alternate-reality romantic mystery Frequencies won a raft of awards on its festival run before being released internationally to rave reviews. Darren made his feature film debut writing, producing and directing the innovative micro-budget feature Inbetweeners. He is currently working across a variety of projects both in film and television, including high-concept action-romance Kinetic with Australian producer Todd Fellman (Daybreakers, The Nest, Jungle); Hazard, a Steampunk heist film; and Frequencies: The TV Series, a mystery thriller set in the world of the original film developed with backing from Screen Queensland. Drew Macdonald is a filmmaker whose work crosses over from narrative film and television to documentary. He's known for associate producing the Emmy-nominated and AACTA award-winning feature documentary Only The Dead and co-wrote and produced The Wanderers, for ABC and Ovation Networks U.S.A. His short film, Creeper, will premiere in late 2017 at Sitges International Film Festival and Screamfest LA. He has completed an in-house writer/producer placement with the Emmy-award winning Hoodlum Entertainment in Australia, and has a slate of TV and feature projects at various stages of development.

Anthony Morris has been a screenwriter, script editor and story producer for over 25 years, creating screen dramas that have shown on all five Australian free-to-air networks, and throughout the world including the U.S. on Netflix, Nickelodeon and Disney. His experience runs the gamut of television drama and includes amongst others the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award-winning H2O: Just Add Water; the AFI-winning prime-time cop series Stingers, MAKO – Island of Secrets, The Crash Zone, the AFI-winning The Elephant Princess, as well as Australia's two all-time most successful small-screen exports – dramas Home & Away and Neighbours. He has worked with some of the top production companies in Australia and on co-productions with U.S., British, German and Canadian companies, and has a raft of feature film and television projects in development.

Conversation with TBS and TNT's Sandra Dewey to open Scripted

Join us at Scripted this November as Sandra Dewey, president, Studio T and TBS & TNT business operations – Turner Entertainment Networks, speaks about how network deals are changing in relation to the new model of TV viewing. Dewey will also cover the complete top-to-bottom rebuilds of TBS and TNT over the past two years in their quest to reach younger audiences, feature premium programming and address the rapidly changing viewing habits that are transforming the business.

At Turner, Dewey's role encompasses responsibility for production and business affairs for the top-rated TNT and TBS cable networks, and Turner's new media and advertiser-sponsored initiatives. As head of Studio T, Turner's in-house studio for TBS and TNT, she manages the operations of the studio business, an increasingly important job as both networks produce more original content.

Dewey is responsible for deals that have paved the way for TBS' ongoing brand evolution, including Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, The Guest Book, The Detour, Angie Tribeca, People of Earth, Wrecked and Search Party. Dewey recently oversaw deals for TNT's critically acclaimed drama series Animal Kingdom, Good Behavior, Claws and the upcoming eagerly anticipated series The Alienist. Among Dewey's many past achievements for Turner, she served as chief negotiator on the deal to bring Conan O'Brien to TBS, brokered an innovative partnership with Turner's international division, Turner International, to increase U.S. programming and brand reach, globally and also recently championed the new, all-inclusive, multi-platform deal with Conan & O'Brien's Team Coco that extends the CONAN brand into additional content experiences across all screens, including digital and branded content, podcasting, mobile gaming, pay TV and live tours.

In addition to the aforementioned series, Stark oversees the studio's production efforts on Teen Wolf (MTV); Get Shorty (EPIX); the upcoming scripted series Condor (AT&T Audience Network) and The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair (EPIX).

Stark joined MGM from Steve Stark Productions where he served as President and Executive Producer, leading the company to an overall deal with NBC/Universal Television. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for overseeing or producing more than 1,900 episodes of television.
