Arturo Interian is Senior Vice President, Scripted Programming for HISTORY®. Based in Los Angeles, he oversees the development and production of scripted series, miniseries and movies for the network.
Interian is in charge of a drama slate that includes the hit series Vikings and SIX; the upcoming Knightfall from executive producer Jeremy Renner, and the upcoming Blue Book from Academy Award® winning executive producer Robert Zemeckis. Vikings, a top five cable drama, has recently wrapped production on its 20 episode fifth season, following a game-changing fourth season that saw the historic death of King Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and the rise of his sons to form the Great Heathen Army. Created and written by Michael Hirst, Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers joins the season five cast that includes series regulars Katheryn Winnick, Gustaf Skarsgard, Alex Høgh Andersen and Alexander Ludwig.
HISTORY’s drama series, SIX, has emerged as the number one new cable drama in total viewers in 2017, and stars Walton Goggins, Barry Sloane, Juan Pablo Raba, Kyle Schmid, and Edwin Hodge. Created by Academy Award® nominee William Broyles & David Broyles, executive produced by Academy Award® winner Harvey Weinstein, SIX depicts the combat missions of the most elite special forces team in the US Military, Seal Team 6. Olivia Munn joins the SIX cast for its ten episode second season.
Knightfall chronicles the story of the Knights Templar and their mysterious fall on Friday the 13th, 1307. The series hails from executive producers Jeremy Renner, Dominic Minghella, Jeff Pinkner, and Andre Nemec. Knightfall stars Tom Cullen and four-time Emmy® nominee Jim Carter.
Interian oversaw the event series Roots, recipient of seven Emmy Award® Nominations. The eight-hour limited series featured an all-star cast including Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker, Academy Award® winner Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne Mekhi Phifer, and Malachi Kirby as Kunta Kinte.
Previously, Interian creatively oversaw HISTORY’s major miniseries event Hatfields & McCoys starring Kevin Costner. The three-part miniseries averaged 17.1 million Total Viewers and received 16 Emmy® nominations, winning five, including Costner for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie and Tom Berenger for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie.
Interian joined HISTORY from Lifetime where he served as Vice President, Original Movies and Mini-Series. Among the projects he shepherded at Lifetime were the Emmy Award® nominated miniseries Bonnie & Clyde, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, and Human Trafficking.
Prior to Lifetime, he was Director, Movies for Television and Miniseries for CBS and was the executive in charge of the CBS Story Department. Interian also worked at Walt Disney Television and Bungalow 78 Productions on the series Coach prior to joining CBS.
Interian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University, graduating from the school’s Writing Honors Program.
