Hugh Fitzpatrick is Vice president, Scripted Development and Production at National Geographic Channel. In this role, he develops and oversees the production of scripted series and specials in support of the network’s mission of premium science, adventure and exploration programming produced in partnership with top creative talent. Fitzpatrick is based in Los Angeles and reports to Carolyn Bernstein, Head of Global Scripted Development and Production.

Prior to this role, Fitzpatrick was the head of television for Teakwood Lane, Howard Gordon’s production company based at 20th Century Fox Television. Teakwood Lane’s credits include the Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning series “Homeland” (Showtime) and “24” (FBC), as well as the acclaimed cable drama “Tyrant” (FX), “Second Chance” (FBC) and “24: Legacy” (FBC).

From 2010 to 2012, he served as vice president of scripted programming at BBC Worldwide Productions, which produced “DaVinci’s Demons” and “Torchwood: Miracle Day” for Starz, the HBO series “Crime” and “Getting On” and the new adaptation of the classic BBC miniseries “I, Claudius.”

Prior to that, Fitzpatrick was a television literary agent at WME, where he represented a variety of writers and directors on such shows as “30 Rock,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Friday Night Lights,” “24,” “CSI,” “The Daily Show,” “The Colbert Report,” “Big Love” and the cult comedies “Human Giant” and “Party Down.” In 2005, Fitzpatrick was honored as a recipient of the Hollywood Reporter’s Next Generation 35 Under 35 award for the top executives working in the entertainment industry. Fitzpatrick started his career in the mail room at Endeavor in 1998, after working at Mike Newell’s Production Company, Dogstar Films, and a stint on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide for U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y.
